Yo yo yo peeps,
I'm Brasco. I'm starting insanity this week with a mix of P90X. If anyone else is starting, hit me up! It's a lot easier to keep true to this stuff when someone is going through the same thing. Good luck to y'all.

Definitely you will gain muscle and tone. Check out my before and after pics as I am a thin male. You should definitely add some protein to your diet. I use protein powder, you can see a review here: http://www.crazyworkoutblog.com/nutrition/protein-powder-supplements/

I just ordered Insanity and I am super excited about it! But I need some advice. I would consider myself "skinny fat", as I am thin, but NOT toned at all. I am 34 years old, 5'4" and 112 lbs., so I am hoping this will build some muscle on me. Does anyone have any tips to make sure I won't lose my almost non-existent muscle mass and any way that I can ensure maximum muscle growth? Maybe just increasing my protein during this 63 days of Insanity? I am not trying to be a body builder or anything, just some good tone to my legs, arms, and core.
Thank you for any tips!

Awesome stuff Cas! I ordered a joist mount pullup bar that is on its way. I will have to install this in my basement because I don't have a doorway in the house that fits the Iron Gym bar.

If all goes well, I plan on starting a week from Monday, I will keep you posted! I did preview a few of videos and I kind of agree that Tony is annoying . . . oh well, we will see!

I should mention too, I suggest using resistance bands for the Chest & Back workout, unless you are a rockstar at doing pull-ups. I struggle with them a bit, and really think I am getting more benefit from using the bands instead. For the Arms & Shoulders though I would suggest using a set of dumbbells. I used bands the first time through and I really didn't feel like I got the most out of the workout. I picked up a set of adjustable dumbbells for week 2, and definitely felt the difference. Bands will work if you don't have any dumbbells and don't want to get any, but at least in my opinion, weights are better for the lifting workouts.

I actually decided to start doing P90X myself since it is pretty much a structured version of the cardio/weight training hybrid that I was attempting to do with Insanity and my weights. I just finished the 2nd week last night, and so far I am liking it for the most part.

One thing I will say though is that the cardio is pretty tame compared to Insanity. The plyo workout is called the "mother of all P90X workouts" but to be honest, it doesn't compare to any of the month 1 Insanity workouts, at least in my opinion. The Kenpo X is a bit weak as well, but it makes up for it by being fun. I picked up some ankle weights and wrist weights to add some resistance to the punching and kicking, and that seems to add some difficulty to it.

Also, Tony Horton annoys me. I don't know what it is about the guy, but he just gets on my nerves sometimes.

I say you should do it though. There is enough variety in the workouts to make it fun, and there is something motivating about feeling your muscles tighten up and feel "harder" (and this is after just 2 weeks). Plus, for me, the goal of completing the 90 days is more of a motivating factor than "re-completing" 60 days of Insanity again. Since you're wanting to build muscle mass, I think it will be just what you're looking for.

So recently I put together a workout schedule for myself that alternates between Insanity and weight training, and am nearing the conclusion of my "warm-up" period where I am sort of "easing" my way back into the program (my cardio is pretty lacking as of late). This coming wednesday marks the beginning of the actual program, but I am not 100% sure if I want to stick to what I drew up, or just do a full 9 week run of Insanity.

I took a look back at my before and after pictures from my first round, and knowing how well I did originally has me leaning towards powering through 63 more days. On the other hand, I remember how I felt after those 63 grueling days, and how glad I was to just be done with it all.

I have a feeling that if I do just Insanity, I might get bored with it or end up the same as last time and fall out of the workout habit again. I think that by mixing things up a bit in an alternating rotation of sorts that I might not be so beaten up after completion, and the variety might keep me from getting bogged down. Of course, I am a bit worried that I probably won't see the same fast-paced results and may become discouraged.

So far I am undecided as far as which approach to take. Ay suggestions/advice?

I'm actually somewhat in the process of doing another round. For a while I've been working out on a semi-regular basis but not getting the results I want (or that I got from Insanity), so I decided to add the Insanity routines to my schedule. Two weeks ago I threw in the Plyometric Cardio Circuit and struggled terribly with it. I haven't really been doing any cardio, so needless to say I was out of breath by the end of the warm-up. So to ease myself back into it, I've been warming up every session by doing the Insanity warm-up.

Starting next week I am going to be alternating between weights one day, cardio the next, and for my cardio days I am going to do Insanity (I figure my lungs should be in decent enough shape to get through a dvd by then). The schedule I put together runs through April 11, and will complete a round of Insanity over the course of 16 weeks (albeit on an every-other-day type of system).

So yeah, I'm up it.

My goals are to tone up and get stronger, I'm 123lbs and 5'4" so I don't need to lose weight, just turn what I have into muscle...I do have a light coating of fat on my belly and thighs I'm looking to get rid of. Just need suggestions about what to fuel up on, I feel very drained during the workouts

So I started my Insanity 2 weeks ago and already my cardio is soo much better.
I train in martial arts and after the first week I saw my cardio fitness level in class improve! Even more so in the seconds week.

I have my 2nd fit test tonight and I'm pretty confident my reps will improve!

Hi all,

I am starting Insanity for the 2nd time. THe first time round by day 3 my calf muscles were killing me, I could hardly walk. I decided I must of done some damage to them ( nto sure how) so I took a 4 day break and I am now back to the start again.

So I am sticking to the diet laid out and I am supposed to take in around 3500 calories a day!!!! and I am hoping Insanity can transfrom this slightly tubby figure into a lean cut shape!

My Stats (as of now)
Weight: 168 Pounds (12 Stone)
Height: 188cm (6ft 2 Inches)
shape: erm slightly rounded with no definition.

I do hope Insanity will work for me.

You will work every muscle in your body, but with plyometrics. You will certainly lose fat doing this as it is all cardio based. If you are looking to get toned this is definitely for you. Take a look at some of the results people have had and decide for yourself!

I mean, bascially i just want to get leaner. Like less flabby and more toned. I was doing P90X, but after a year of it, i wasn't seeing any more results, so now i have this program. But, I'm leary about follwing the schedule because i dont want to lose muscle and this seems like it;s alot of intense cardio. So is this program mostly just for cutting body fat, or what?

Are these the same workouts?

I'm halfway through week 2 and trying to workout whether they've just messed up the calender listing or if there's a different workout I don't have? Cardio circuit and plyometric cardio circuit are both listed several times so it looks like they're different workouts...

Loving the workouts though. I finished P90x not too long ago and although starting it was difficult, it was nothing on this stuff.

I could double up P90x workouts without any trouble as long as I had the time, I don't think I could do 2 of these in a row if my life depended on it.

I just received my package and I'm watching each DVD for quality and when I watched the Upper Body and Weight Training DVD, it was unwatchable after the 25 minute mark. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Did you put in both of the Core DVD's to make sure they were actually as they were labeled? You can just do Power and Resistance in it's place if you need a substitute.
