Daily calories?

For those of you who are trying to lose some weight and succeeding, what are your daily calorie targets? Also, are they different from what the manual recommends for you?

I am doing what the manual and the BB site recommend, which is around 1,650 for month 1. I'm wondering if that's too high, because I'm sedentary outside of Insanity because of a full-time desk job, and I'm also only 5'2". Also, the scale isn't dropping as quickly during this second round. (I know that doesn't tell the whole story, though.)

IMHO, I think the calories are too high. I've done P90x (5X) and Insanity (2X) but never got the results I wanted because I failed on the diet. I have started using myfitnesspal app to count calories. I've lost 13 lbs (now at 213), pretty much sedentary for remainder of day, 5ft 10" male. Myfitnesspal recommends 1320 net calories per day to lose 2lbs per week. Starting off losing more than 2 lbs per week but its leveling out.

My target, according to the formula in the recipe book is 1495 a day so I'm doing 5 x 300, which is ok but I need a bigger evening meal so I'm having mostly protein at it and a smaller carb breakfast cos I can't eat more than 200 cals (and do my workout right after, so would probably feel ik.)

The scale won't drop fast, muscle weighs a lot more than fat.

I have to say, in the short time I've been doing this diet and exercise (fit test plus day one) my diet is too stringent, I'm STARVING all the time except after my evening meal.

I can stick to the plan no problem, though. I don't do much in the way of sweet stuff and have had to educate myself to eat the amount of fruit I need to maintain a varied diet.
