Holy Cow! (moaning about the first day of month 2)

Today was the 3rd fit test and first day of Month 2 for me.
During and after the fit test I felt great, my numbers have really improved! But during MIC I felt like it was Day 1 again.
My husband summed up the feeling well. During the warm-up of MIC he said "Oh great, so now the month 1 workouts are just warm-ups?!"
It seemed to go on forever; at one point my quadriceps felt like they had shut down completely and I was sweating like crazy. And those side suicide drills! WTF?
BUT--I know that there is a method to Shaun T's madness and I know that it's worth every drop of sweat, every grunt and every exhausting, knee-crackling walk up the stairs!
Oh, I do want to thank you all for encouraging the use of a recovery drink (thanks for the recipe Sara). I'm pretty sure it's the reason I was still alive at the end.
    Thanks for letting me whine!
Keep pushing play and enjoy the weekend.

And you even did the fit test on the same day? I am very impressed. That is the ultimate in masochism! Don't worry, though. You and your husband are going to do great. Max Interval Circuit is by far the "worst" of the month 2 workouts, and I thought day 36 was by far the worst day of month 2. You lived to tale the tale, and tomorrow is much easier. So glad the recovery drink worked out for you -- keep on drinking it and see how much you need. I needed 12 oz. at the beginning of month 2 but after the first week I went back down to 8 and had adjusted well.

As for the month 1 workouts just being warmups, well, refer to my post "to the month 1 crew" as I had to swap a month 1 workout in today because of time constraints.

One more little tip. There are some exercises in month 2 that you need to really take slowly. It becomes all the more important not to throw yourself around and those side suicide drills are nothing to mess with. You could really hurt yourself. In that one and in the side pushups you'll do tomorrow in Max Interval Plyo, focus on having your hips stacked vertically so that your hips are rolled all the way open to the side. The navel is pulled in, and you'll feel a twist in your torso. Don't allow that top hip to point down to the floor. They're a little tricky but he explains them well. Same deal with the balance pushups you guys will do tomorrow. I think it took me three workouts before I could figure out how to do those right.

HANG IN THERE!!! I agree, the MIC is the toughest. I struggle with the balance pushups too....progress not perfection right?

Thanks for the support guys. I am sooooo sore all over today!
I appreciate the tips on the side suicides and balance push-ups, I'll be sure to keep my hips stacked. I definitely don't want a knee injury.
Well, I'm off to do Max Interval Plyo. yay!

The first day of Month 2 is the hardest! I also did the Fit Test and MIC on the same day and wouldn't do that again! By the end of the week it will feel easier! Definitely heed Sara's advice. I pulled a muscle in my side with those side suicide jumps. I substituted regular suicide drills for 2 workouts and once healed up took them really slow and got them down. :) Welcome to Month 2!!

I am getting very nervous about starting month 2! I just finished week three and today is my off day. While I have definitely improved.. I still don't feel like I can really keep up, especially when it comes to anything involving push ups. I've been mostly subbing "girl" pushups in place because my upper body is so weak.

Lindsey, I do not know anyone who was not nervous about Month 2. And most folks cannot keep up with with the crew on the video especially just starting out. Heck, the people on the video can't keep up all the time. It makes me feel better to see those insanely fit people grabbing their knees and taking breaks too. You will continue to improve as the weeks go by. On the push-ups do what you can and then modify to get the most out of it like you have been doing. I did "girl" pushups in the beginning as well. Good luck moving into Month 2.

SRG...A late Happy Birthday! How was the Birthday cake? Hope you enjoyed your special day. Sara, how are your knees and body feeling after 3 weeks of completing INSANITY? Still feel your musculoskeletal system moving? Mine seems to have stopped shifting after the first 5 weeks. Sunnyday, you are perky and full of energy as usual. Keep up the fantastic progress...it's almost bikini time!
