Insanity with weight lifting

My goal is to get a ripped core along with a strong base for my lower body, but at the same time I wish to bulk up to become stronger, especially my upper body. I am told that insanity really strengthens the core and lower body, but makes you lose weight and possibly muscle mass. I am about 5'9'' and 170 pounds. I can afford to lose some body fat but I already do not have much to lose. My main worry is that I will not be able to bulk up if I do Insnaity.

Therefore, my plan was to do Insanity while doing weight lifting. I am not sure whether to do 3 days of lifting with 3 days of insanity or do insanity after lifting. What do you think would be the best for my situation? Thank you.

P.S. I am planning on using protein shakes and creatine along with my regular diet.

Chase....INSANITY will condition you increasing your cardio ability, endurance and stamina. However, if you really want to "bulk up" high intensity interval training (HIIT) is not for you. Since it is cardio based (fat burning) and only minor resistance (compared to free weights), you will tone your muscles, not bulk up. You can try the INSANITY program and ingest twice the amount of protein about 250 grams with 10 grams creatine per day and you should gain. Perhaps alternate heavy lifting days with INSANITY days for best hybrid results. Or, you may want to try The Asylum, which has a hybrid calendar matrix for P90X also. Stay Strong!

Thanks AJ. I'm leaning towards getting away from insanity due to the fact that I do not have much fat to lose and want to gain muscle mass. I appreciate your help and you helped to answer my dilemma.
