I have some pain in my left knee while doing some of the exercises that involve jumping (I'm in month one). I have knee problems from years of doing gymnastics. My ortho surgeon told me years ago that I should exercise my knees anyway, so I am not worried about doing them any more damage. I would like to buy some kind of wrap or support to wear while doing Insanity but I'm not sure what. Does anyone wear anything? What should I look for?

I'm with Lindsey923 regarding the knee issue... Week one was fine and into the end of week two my left knee started to give me problems. Right now I am in week three and have had to reduce the amount of impact on my knee buy doing other exercises instead.
So, any suggestions for us would be greatly appreciated :-)Posted 2 years ago # -
No secret here that many INSANITY followers suffer in the knees, myself included. I am trying to complete week 6, but find I have to take every other day or two off to rest my left knee. Lindsey, you have a chronic knee problems from years of gymnastics, so you may want to visit your ortho again for a custom knee brace or support. I purchased one off the shelf and it has helped, but there are better models to choose from if you see an ortho. It is true, better to exercise a joint that let it become lethargic, but make sure you are not damaging the joint. My knee pain has been diagnosed as bursitis and is fine during the workouts (strong) but gets stiff that evening. I have no cracking, creaking or bone to bone rubbing. I ice daily and rest and for 1 or 2 days and I am fine....then the cycle starts all over again after an INSANITY workout. Do what INSANITY exercises you can and pass on what irritates the knees. This is a very common issue among INSANITY participants. Good luck!

Lindsey, by "exercise your knees," your ortho meant strengthening and stretching, not high impact. Regardless, I know how it is -- you just want to get through the two months without any permanent damage. I wore those thick wraps with the adjustable straps and the open patella (neoprene with one fuzzy side). They worked wonders, but they were bulky, itchy, hot, and they slipped around a little. The brand was Futuro, but I know there are better ones.
I wonder how just the plain Ace sleeves are -- the ones that are white and just compress around the entire knee. Anybody have experience with those?
By the way, all of my joints are a lot more "poppy" since Insanity. It doesn't hurt, but it's noticeable.

I tried the white Ace "sleeve" on my knee today while doing a hiit workout. They slip even more than the ones with the adjustable straps, but are overall much more comfortable to wear. The support was slightly less but still adequate for me right now.

Hi I am thinking of buying this product, I used to be very active sports wise, but since having an op on my cruciate ligament some years ago, I have had to slow down a bit, so I am now unfit and over-weight. I wanted to do exercises without weights, so when I saw the ad for this I thought I would give it a go, but I am worried about my knee as this still hurts if I do any exercise on it. Any advice would be appreciated. I was told by my doc to exercise the knee to strengthen it.

This workout is intensive on the knee, it may not be right for you. Tell your doctor about INSANITY before attempting.
