    I am an 18 year old female and have completed two rounds of p90x. I am halfway through my second week of insanity. I am making some great improvements, I am taking a lot less breaks. I have one question, I'm not trying to lose weight, but instead gain muscle. I have rock hard abs, but they just don't show... any suggestions? I'm eating right around 1500-1800 calories a day. is that enough or too much?

    I'm experiencing the same thing. I'm a 23 year old female and going into the last week of Insanity. ... I am starting to get a just a LITTLE upper ab definition, but my lower abs just look soft. But if you were to feel and touch my lower abs, they feel rock hard under what seems to be less than a cm of tissue.

    I am noticing my abs are much more defined in the morning before any food or drink and even more defined if I ate a really light and early dinner the night before. I'm also noticing that depending on my own personal cycle, I will have more soft tissue during times of the month I have surges of estrogen.

    I'd say you're on the lower limit of what your calorie in take should be considering your doing the insanity program.

    I'm going to start P90x after a Insanity... in your opinion how do they compare?

    Yeah, that's how I feel. I can see a little abs in the morning but as soon as I eat, you can't anymore. I eat extremely healthy and I just don't understand.

    P90X is a lot different than insanity. Insanity is a lot of cardio where p90x is not. I did have amazing results and I got so much stronger. I didn't think that there was anything as hard as p90x until I did insanity. The workouts are longer, but I would say that insanity is much harder.

    Thanks for the input. Just wait until Insanity month two, not only are the individual moves harder, but the workouts get longer. Some are over an hour considering the calendar schedules two in some days.

    One thing I have learned to get more ab definition is if I eat a ton of bread the night before, my entire body will be a lot leaner the next day. I'm assuming this has some weird effect on the glycemic index of our bodies and will obviously not work for long term results, but if I'm going to be in a bikini the next day, its a good trick to pull off that lower abs bikini tummy.

    It's also nice to be able to eat pizza every once in awhile with the opposite affect you'd thought it would have.

    Have you considered your alcohol intake? When I cut out all alcohol, I noticed a huge difference.

    I actually don't drink at all. like not even a sip. That's what I don't understand, I'm eating everything that is good for me. I thinking about mixing insanity and p90x... like Monday do p90x arms, tuesday do the insanity workout, wednesday back and biceps, p90x, thursday insanity and so forth. I feel like this way i would get leaner and build more muscle.

    Before you try and mix it up... try to stick with Insanity until at least week 6. Thats when I noticed the majority of my pay off.
