Day 17 – Two Insanity Workouts Back to Back
Today was the same routine as last Saturday where I did two workouts back to back: Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs.
I have to say, going into the workouts today for the first time during this whole process I was really not motivated at all. I didn’t get much sleep last night so I was tired. I also had a bad day of seasonal allergies. I guess you are bound to have off days here and there and today was one of them. However, once I started getting into the workout I was ok.
Jumping right into Pure Cardio is a hard task even on a good day. By the third repetition of the warmup though you pretty much forget about everything else except for pushing through, which was true for me today too. Then, while stretching, I kept trying to pump myself up to do as many of the 15 consecutive workouts as I could before taking my first break. I though I could get through a couple at least . . . . that is until I got to the second exercise: Switch Kicks. I don’t know why, but these are very difficult for me to power through. You really have to use your whole body to jump from leg to leg and keep form. So, I didn’t make it past the second exercise, but that’s ok
After Pure Cardio I took about 3-4 minutes and then started Cardio Abs. It is tough getting started in that one right after Pure Cardio because you start with jumps (that are powered by your core). My legs didn’t have to much left in them to jump, but I did it. I then powered through the rest of exercises until near the end where you are in a Low Plank position. Basically, you are on your forearms in a pushup position. I am doing this on a carpet in my living room and began to notice pain in my elbows. It turns out I got a rug burn! (see pic to the right) I am going to have to figure out a way to prevent this as there are more Cardio Abs workouts to do.
Looking forward to the Cardio Recovery Day tomorrow!

Hey!
Just wanted to tell you that your blog is awesome! I’ve wanted to try Insanity for a while, but I’m trying out ChaLEAN Extreme.
Keep it up!

Just finished doing this today. I didn’t do Cardio Abs last time since I didn’t have enough time before work.
I don’t want to say that it’s getting easier, but I am getting the hang of it in this third week. I guess I am just realizing I’m pushing more and building endurance. Also, I’m noticing more soreness on my lower back. But the good kind, i think from the Push Up drills from yesterday. Feeling great.
Hey Kenne – just want to give you a heads up you probably shouldn’t be feeling soreness in your lower back due to the push-ups drills. Shoulders and chest might be sore, but definitely not your back. You may be using improper form. There aren’t really any moves in these routines that should cause your lower back to be sore, so you may want to keep an eye on that.
