Day 2 – Plyometric Cardio Circuit
You mean I have 58 more days of THIS! Dang, this is hard.
Today I completed my first full workout, the Plyometric Cardio Circuit. I was challenging to say the least. Even the warmups are a workout. Shaun T pushes you all the way. The workout starts with a warmup, which doesn’t sound bad, but after the 3rd repetition of being pushed, my heart rate was already high. Then the Insanity began!
These circuits combined cardio and strength training together using sports drills to push you. For example the basketball jump: You start in standing position and then squat to to floor pretending to pick up a basketball, then in one motion “shoot” the basketball while jumping in the air. You try and do this as fast as you can without compromising form and jumping as high as you can each time.
I wore my heart rate monitor to see how hard I was working. I peaked at 167 bpm, which is about 88%of my max. I found as the workout went further I was able to keep my heart rate in check, but still was not able to complete a lot of the exercises. By that point my legs were like noodles and I couldn’t jump or move much more!
The good news though is I got through it and am here to tell the story! Until tomorrow . . .
