Day 3 – Cardio Power and Resistance
3 down and only 57 more to go! Today’s workout called Cardio Power and Resistance was definitely focused more on building strength . I feel today now that I am starting to get into a groove. The initial shock to my body *may* be subsiding. The extruciating pain in my legs though tell me otherwise!
The workout starts with the same warmup routine. I almost finished the entire warm-up without stopping! I know that sounds silly if you have never done this before, but this is no ordinary warmup. It consisits of:
- Jogging in Place.
- Power Jacks. Similar to jumping jacks, but you hold each rep in a deep squat.
- Log Jumps. Jump side to side as if hurdling a log each time.
- 123 Heisman. Shuffle 3 steps to the side then raise your knee contracting your core, repeat the other way.
- Butt Kicks. Running in place, but kicking the back of your butt with your legs each time.
- High Knees. Running in place, but raising the knees hip height each time.
- Vertical Jump. Lower into a squat position then jump up as high and straight as you can.
After the warmup we went into it. The exercises were difficult for me. There were all sorts of different kinds of push ups, like moving push ups and v-push up and a bonus push up where you are contracted sort of in a ball. Then there were insane squat moves like the the globe jump where you jump from a squat touching the floor in a 4 round circle (front, right, back, left).
My heart rate didn’t peak as high today, it hit around 163. But it was the power moves that left me limp on the floor during repetitions! I am pushing myself as hard as I can though and plan on doing better each day

Oh boy, talk about muscle pain! This morning woke up with pain all over from day before, but miraculously i was able to do all the work out for today, it was tough but it was good workout i burned over 700 calories so no complain, OK well see ya tomorrow and God bless!!
I am on my second day and starting day three tomorrow and im sooo sore. i really know this is really insane.sweat has been rolling off me even when im cooling off.cant wait to see end results.God Bless You all and keep pushing……
Just started the insanity, day three had be sweating like no other. Looking forward to reading this blog everyday!
Cool Steven, keep us posted on your progress!
I am on day three. Havent started the dvd yet, but wow, I am hurting from the day 2 routine. Thighs and calves are killing me. Stretching is key noticed. I had 3 other people trying the workout with me, 1 remains now ..lol. Which may not last too much longer. Gotta keep focused and pointed towards the goal at hand! Results are not gonna happen unless you push yourself hard.
oh yes, i remember the calf and thigh aches! good news is they’ll be gone soon, so just keep at it, cause you can do it.
I completed day three and it was tough but I noticed that I didn’t seem to struggle with the workout as much as I did with the fit test, and day 2. I am still sore but am honestly loving the pain. As is often said “no pain, no gain”! Also I really want to thank crazyworkoutblog.com and all of the members here because if it wasn’t for all of the great people with great advice I think I would be confused and struggling. I am looking forward to Day 4!!!
Congratulations for getting this far! It gets easier after you make it through that first week. Thank you for joining the community and keeping us updated as to your progress!
OK. I am glad that I am not the only one who had to “try” to make it through the entire warmup – lol. I just finished the day 3 workout and I honestly didn’t make it through the entire warm up. I almost made it through without stopping. I’m going to try to push through the warm up on the next workout. I love this.
I completed the Plyometric Cardio Circuit today. I’m 41 years old trying to get back into shape. I’ve been involved with P90x for about 3 weeks now, and this week is suppose to be my recovery week. Instead of recovery, I’m going to try the Insanity workout this week.
Next week back to P90x with a twist, add the insanity program with the P90X program. I should be in shape for the summer! I went from 175 pounds down to 150 pounds in no time. Most of the loss from my stomach area.
Well, best of luck to everyone!!!!
Today is my third day of Insanity! I plan to do the dvd this afternoon but my legs seem to hurt ALL OVER. I stepped out of bed this morning and found out my calves hurt worse than they ever had. I’m hoping to feel better by this afternoon, but even with the pain i’m still motivated to keep going!!
That first week is painful! Power through it and by week 2 you will be feeling much better. That means it’s working
Today is also my third day on Insanity and its been great so far even with my legs hurting like crazy but it’ll go away…Good luck to everyone of you guys.
Completed day 3 this morning and feel like I need a wheelchair to get around. My legs, core and arms are all screaming today. Was sore before I started today’s workout. The worse for me was the 1 legged tricep dip. Still determined to keep pushing through each day. I am hoping that by week 2, I am less sore and no longer have the urge to vomit during the workout.
I just finished my Day 3 workout, Cardio Power & Resistance. After yesterday’s workout I did a yoga class and I can honestly say that I think it prevented a lot of soreness today. I’ve been practicing yoga for over a year now and am grateful for it since I feel that is helping me tremendously with these workouts, SO FAR. I am sweating like I have never sweated (?) before and feel pretty darn accomplished just by getting up and doing it again to the best of my ability. My calves are hard as rocks and I had some cramps throughout the night but I guess that is to be expected. Keep up the good work everybody! 3 down 60 to go!!!! We can do it!!
I did my Day 3 work out yesterday, I am so soared. I can feel it mainly in my back and legs. I did stop a few times but I got through the work out. I am taking it a day at time and not thinking about all the days left because I am trying to stay consistent. Today I am getting ready for Day 4 and am very excited. Keep pushing everyone, Let’s Dig Deep!
I did my day 3 today and oh my God, this workout is crazy..it’s addictive and also number1 on my hate list….the sweat never stops the heart rate always in the zone..I m pausing to breath…good Luck to u all keep posting ..the support is very imp to keep the morals high….
Finished day 3 yesterday and woke up this morning so sore. Still struggling thru the warm-up, but getting better. I know that soon I will be able to complete that without stopping. Calves hurt the most, and somehow I am still looking forward to the rest of the workout! Can’t wait to start seeing results! Thank goodness today is day 4 cardio recovery!
I am 55 and have done Insanity for a year – it turned my health and life around – awesome. Took a couple of months off from Insanity and switched to dumbbells and treadmill workouts. Went back to Insanity and was in nowhere near as good shape as before I stopped Insanity. I will always do Insanity from now on – maybe add weights and treadmill for something extra. Insanity works stay with it and “dig deeper” as Shaun says to do.
Awesome stuff Joe! Thanks for sharing your experience.
