Day 34 – Core Cardio and Balance: Done!
Here we go, week 5 is in the books! It was real hard getting motivated to do the workout today. Not so much as that I didn’t want to work out, it was just that it was 60 degrees outside and sunny. It was a beautiful day here in Atlanta which we haven’t had in quite some time. But I powered through it so I could go outside and play with the kids and tidy up the yard some.
The workout was about the same it has been for the past 2 days. Now that I have done it all week I can say there have been some benefits. First off, I am sure my hip flexor areas are getting stronger. I have a feeling this was intentional to prep me for the upcoming week. Second, the core does seem a bit tighter as the workout is focused on core cardio.
Now mentally I have to get ready! I did a preview of 1/2 of the Max Interval Circuit to see what I am up against on Monday .. . I’m terrified! This workout is a full hour! The schedule has me FIRST doing my 3rd fit test and then going into Max Interval Circuit. That seems death-like to me. What I think I am going to is to take the fit test tomorrow on my rest day and then go into in Monday with that behind me. I don’t know if I can go from 35 minutes to 1 1/2 hours of exercise overnight. This will be the first time I have strayed or modified anything in the entire program (and might be the last), but I feel this is the right move.
I am looking forward to kicking it up next week. I need to figure out how to eat more as I imagine an hour of exercise can burn upwards of 800 calories at a time. Tomorrow I will post my fit test #3 results.

You mean go into month 2 without a rest day? Eek! Actually, I have been sort of planning something similar for that week, perhaps skipping the final day of Core Cardio and Balance to take an early rest day and then taking the fit test, or something. Speaking of which, did you take a look at the schedule for week 9?! I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to pull that off as written when the time comes.
Question — have you been able to gain weight as you set out to do? Have you weighed yourself? Just curious. The scale is really deceptive at this point, I know. My measurements and scale weight seem to belong to two different people.
Yeah, for me I would rather skip the rest day then go 1 1/2 hours hardcore straight through. Plus the fit test is only about 25 minutes so it doesn’t affect the day too much. I just posted the results in a new post. As for week 9, I can’t look that far ahead! I am just mentally preparing for Monday
As for weight gain, I am pretty much the same weight as when I started. I think I gained a pound maybe so far. However, I couldn’t be more pleased with how my body has changed so far. I need to figure out how to pack in more calories starting this week to try and add a few pounds in month 2.
First, good for you!! You finished your rest week (sounds funny to say that) and you’re on to the second month!
I can’t believe they want you to do both the fit test AND then the regular routine…yikes!! I think I will follow in your footsteps and take the fit test day before.
I took your advice and continued with the regular workout today. I didn’t realize that the fit test was part of the weeks schedule. I stuck the calander that came with the set on the wall, but never realy looked at it. Now my rest days will be Saturdays instead…which is fine with me.
Looking forward to seeing what month two brings you…
Congratulations for getting started! Soon enough you will be an addict
